Aimee Whiteford, 46, was biking over the weekend when she attempted to cross Rossville Boulevard near Franklin Square Drive and she was struck by a driver who was traveling in the opposite direction along the roadway.
Whiteford, a mom of two, was hit by the driver, who did not remain at the scene and remains at large. No information about a suspect or vehicle has been released by police investigators. The crash remains under investigation.
Whiteford had been biking home from work at the time of the crash. Her death has a major blow to her community, friends, and family throughout the area.
A "Ride of Silence" was planned in her honor.
Meanwhile, condolences poured in.
"Sweet and goofy were the best words to describe her," her friend posted. "I don't have anything but kind words in her honor, she was that sweet. I wish those of you who didn't know her could have spent just one day giggling with her. You'd only need an evening to (love) her."
"I will never forget being awestruck by your light and effortless control of the dance floor," another friend wrote on social media. "First time I saw you (was at) Palomas downtown Baltimore 25 years ago. I will cherish all the wonderful times that we spent together and on the phone."
