Maryland’s Frances Tiafoe had a night to remember at the US Open, taking down a tennis legend and sending himself sprinting into the quarterfinals of the tournament.
Tiafoe, a 24-year-old Hyattsville native out of Prince George's County, took down future Hall of Famer Rafael Nadal, the number two seed, in the fourth round at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, much to the shock and delight of many.
The underdog (22nd seed) topped the legend 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 to snap Nadal's 22-match Grand Slam winning streak and puts him one step closer to a potential first major championship.

NYC Mom Found Dead In Blood-Soaked Hockey Bag Was Stabbed Nearly 60 Times, Autopsy Finds
A Queens mom whose body was found in a blood-soaked hockey bag over the weekend had been stabbed nearly 60 times, an autopsy reportedly showed.
A medical examiner who conducted the autopsy of Orsolya Gaal, 51, listed the wounds, according to multiple reports citing knowledgeable law enforcement sources.
These include injuries to Gaal's carotid artery and trachea, as well as to her torso, left arm, fingers and palms, the New York Post reported.
The medical examiner counted 58 wounds in all, according to News4 New York.

Federal authorities have charged three New York City men with kidnapping a Fort Lee resident and holding him for ransom.
A judge ordered Albert Ferrelli, 50, and Chiahao Lee, 30, both of Queens, and Fa Deng, 42, of Staten Island detained following a brief hearing in U.S. District Court in Newark on Thursday, April 7.
The kidnapper sent the victim’s wife a photograph showing the victim with his hands bound and his eyes and mouth duct-taped while demanding $680,000 following the Tuesday night abduction, U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Philip R. Sellinger said.
