Man, Woman Nabbed With 1,000-Plus Packets Of Heroin In Western Mass Traffic Stop, Police Say
A man and woman were busted for allegedly trafficking drugs following a routine traffic stop in Western Massachusetts that resulted in the discovery of more than 1,000 packets of heroin, according to authorities.
The arrests took place around 12:20 a.m. on Friday, May 7, when Trooper Tyler Hersom was on patrol on Route 91 in Whatley, said the Massachusetts State Police.
While traveling northbound, Hersom’s attention was drawn to a blue Chevy Equinox veering in and out of its lane. It was then that Hersom initiated a traffic stop, according to police.

Trio Nabbed With 375 Bags Of Heroin, Brass Knuckles In Western Mass Traffic Stop
Three men were apprehended for allegedly possessing more than 375 bags of heroin, other drugs, and brass knuckles following a traffic stop in Western Mass.
The men were arrested around 2:46 a.m., Wednesday, April 14 after being pulled over on King Street by Northampton Police for speeding, the department said.
During an investigation, it was discovered that the driver of the vehicle had a suspended license.
A search revealed the three occupants of the vehicle were in possession of more than 375 bags of heroin, methamphetamine, suboxone, and brass knuckles, police said.

Nearly 5,000 Bags Of Heroin And Fentanyl Seized In Major I-91 Drug Bust
It was already a big bust, with police seizing meth, heroin, and cocaine, but when officers found a secret compartment in a truck they had pulled over on I-91 an even larger stash of drugs was discovered.
Altogether, officers seized nearly 5,000 bags of individually wrapped opioids - heroin and fentanyl - among other drugs.
On Monday, Jan. 25, around 1 a.m. Massachusetts State Police were patrolling Interstate 91 around the State Police Trooper-Shelburne Falls barracks when a Chevy Silverado allegedly sped by at 88 mph, police said. The speed limit on I-91, for the most part, is 65 mph.

Wasn't Me: Men Blame Each Other During Arrests
Two men apparently opted not to use their right to remain silent and started blaming each other during a recent arrest.
On Friday, Oct. 23, police allegedly witnessed multiple drug deals in the East Elm Street, Riverdale Street area of West Springfield.
As a result, Matthew Lecca, of West Springfield, and Shawn Barron, of Agawam, were arrested on individual charges of:
- Trafficking in cocaine (100-200 grams),
- Possession to distribute cocaine,
- Possession to distribute heroin,

Police confiscated 250 bags of heroin and made two arrests following a lengthy investigation into drug activity in West Springfield.
On Wednesday, Sept. 16, West Springfield police executed a search warrant at a Cold Spring Avenue residence. Police allegedly found 250 bags of heroin as well as drug packaging materials, a digital scale, and other drug paraphernalia.
