A grieving family is demanding justice after a Cambridge city worker and father of a 5-year-old boy was shot to death while off duty, leaving loved ones and neighbors searching for answers.
Xavier Bautista, 32, was fatally shot shortly before 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 4, near the intersection of Broadway and Norfolk Street, steps from Sennott Park in Cambridge. A passerby discovered him around 5:30 a.m. and called 911, according to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office. Bautista was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is tracking 145 domestically acquired cases of cyclosporiasis, an intestinal illness caused by the Cyclospora parasite, according to the CDC’s surveillance page.
The cases were reported in 17 states among people who became sick from Friday, May 1, through Tuesday, June 16, the CDC said.
