Unlicensed Driver Strikes, Kills 77-Year-Old Malden Man Walking In Medford

An unlicensed driver from is facing charges after hitting and killing a 77-year-old man in Medford, authorities said.

Police responded to a pedestrian-involved crash in the area of 330 Middlesex Avenue in Medford around 6:50 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23, Massachusetts State Police said. The 77-year-old, later identified as Walter Wishoski, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

Initial investigation suggests Wishoski was crossing the road when the driver of a 2013 Ford Fiesta hit him. The driver, later identified as 18-year-old Everton Candido, of Somerville, was arrested for driving without a license. 

The investigation is ongoing.
