Street Racers May Have Caused I-84 Multi-Car Crash, Police Say
Connecticut State Police report a multi-vehicle crash on I-84 was likely caused by street racers. The crash occurred around 10 p.m., Monday, July 1, on I-84 between Exits 68 and 69 in Tolland. According to State Police, responding troopers located an extensive debris field and one vehicle that had rolled during the crash. Connecticut State Police had to smash a window and use a taser on a 24-year-old man before charging him with alleged drunk driving. The incident occurred in Middlesex County around 2:30 a.m., Saturday, June 22, on 1-91 northbound in Middletown between the rest area and Exit 20. A Connecticut man was killed in a New York crash after allegedly speeding in the opposite lane of traffic and striking another vehicle before hitting a tree, police announced. A 24-year-old Connecticut man was killed after he veered off I-95 and hit the back of a parked tractor-trailer. The New Haven County crash happened around 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, in Branford.
