Back-to-Back Crashes Rock CT Community: I-395 Shut Down, Head-On Wreck Leaves 1 Critically Hurt A high-speed crash shut down a portion of I-395 early Saturday morning, Jan. 11, marking the second major collision in the area in less than 12 hours.  Connecticut police closed the interstate near Exit 14 in Norwich around 2 a.m., following a crash that left two people injured. One person suffered head injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, while another was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, police said. CT Woman, 33, Killed In Fiery Overnight Crash A Connecticut woman who was a passenger died after the vehicle ran off the road and hit a bridge abutment before bursting into flames, according to authorities. The crash occurred in New London County at 10:20 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, on I-395 northbound in Lisbon. According to Connecticut State Police, the Dodge was traveling northbound on the highway when it ran off the right side of the road and struck the abutment for the Preston Allen Road overpass. Griswold Crash Leaves Massachusetts Trucker Dead A 42-year-old Middlesex County, Massachusetts, man died after crashing his truck down an embankment along I-395 in Connecticut. Tim Murray, of Ashby, crashed his Freightliner truck in Griswold, New London County between Exit 24 and 28 around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8 Construction had closed the southbound right-hand lane of the highway. As Murray merged into the left lane, his 2019 Freightliner hit a guardrail. Murray corrected the truck but not before striking another section of the guardrail.  The truck tumbled down an embankment.
