The Northeast is home to some of the happiest people in the country, according to a new study.
WalletHub released its 2026 Happiest States in America ranking on Tuesday, Sept. 8. The study compared all 50 states across 30 measures of happiness, including depression and suicide rates, work hours, unemployment, income growth, family stability, volunteer rates, and safety.
The personal finance website also looked at how many adults feel active and productive, along with factors like sleep, leisure time, job security, and community support.

Porsche Crash On I-91 Ends With Drug Bust, 2 Arrests, and Search For Passenger In Rocky Hill
A rollover crash on Interstate 91 led to two arrests and the discovery of drugs and large amounts of cash, police said.
Hector Samuel De Sousa Villata, 27, and Nelchar Garcia-Sanchez, 21, were arrested after the crash Sunday, Sept. 6, in the southbound lanes near Exit 22, Connecticut State Police said.
Troopers spotted Villata's 2006 Porsche Cayenne moving in and out of lanes to pass traffic before it struck a 2021 Honda Touring. The impact caused the sedan to roll over. The driver suffered minor injuries, authorities said.

Teen Survives Days On Overturned Boat In Frigid Sea After Brother, Cousin Die
A teen boy was rescued from an overturned boat in the Bering Sea after surviving for days without food or water while his brother and cousin died, officials said.
Derek Parker Aghnaanga was found sitting on top of a capsized skiff about four miles east of St. Lawrence Island, Alaska, on Monday, Sept. 7, the Coast Guard said in a news release. The 15-year-old had been fishing for halibut with his older brother and cousin when the small boat overturned.
