A theft ring targeting Home Depot, Lowe’s, and other retailers caused nearly $3 million in losses across 19 states — including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Virginia — authorities announced on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
Eight men have been arrested and a ninth is wanted after investigators uncovered a network of more than 30 people handling thefts, transportation, storage, and resale of stolen merchandise, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele and Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel said.

NY Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting Teen In CT
Authorities have returned a New York man to Connecticut on charges stemming from an alleged sexual assault involving a teenager over the summer, police said.
Daniel Ceglio, 43, of West Harrison, was arrested in White Plains, New York, on Oct. 16 and extradited to Darien last week, police said. The alleged assault happened on July 9.
He faces charges of illegal sexual contact with a minor younger than 16, second-degree sexual assault with a victim between the ages of 13 and 15 by someone three years older, and possession of alcohol by a minor, Darien police said.

A Massachusetts man who admitted to driving drunk in an Interstate 91 crash that killed three workers will spend 15 to 17 years in state prison, authorities said.
Bilal Griffith, 30, of West Springfield, pleaded guilty Tuesday, Oct. 27, in the fatal March 28, 2025, crash that killed Ryan Almeida, Raul Bohorquez, and Igor Costa, the Hampden District Attorney’s Office said.

Human remains found in a shed in New York have now been confirmed as a woman who had been missing since 2010, police said.
Ashley Carroll, of Troy, was 24 years old when she was last seen alive May 6, 2010, according to authorities.
