Plainville Police Lt Remembered For His Dedication To Community: Army Vet Was 'Amazing Human' A Connecticut community is mourning the loss of a dedicated police officer who spent his life working to improve his world and the lives of the people in it.  Plainville Police Lt. John Quilter died Saturday, Jan. 18, surrounded by his family. The department did not disclose the cause of death. The 49-year-old Bristol native married his high school sweetheart, Missy, and they had three children. Plainville Officer Dies Surrounded By Family: 'He Was Truly One Of The Best' A police lieutenant in Connecticut died this morning with his family by his side, authorities said.  Plainville police announced that Lt. John Quilter passed away on Saturday, Jan. 18. Authorities did not say how he died or how old he was.  "Words cannot express how heartbreaking and devastating this loss is to his family, PPD, Plainville, and all of the lives that John touched." Ex-Windsor Police Chief Dies After Long Illness: 'To Know Him Was To Know Love' The longest-serving police chief in Connecticut history died last week at his home surrounded by his family, police in Hartford County said.  Former Windsor Police Chief Kevin C. Searles fought a long battle with dementia and died from the disease on Thursday, Nov. 7, his obituary said.  Searles worked for the Plainville Police Department, rising to the rank of detective, before taking the top cop job in Windsor in 1987. He held the position for 28 years.  He stepped down in December 2014 for medical reasons.  His family said he became a police officer because of …
