Fuel Truck Fire Shuts Down I-91, Hazmat Crews Called to Scene A tractor-trailer carrying 7,500 gallons of fuel erupted into flames on I-91, prompting a massive emergency response and full highway closures. State troopers rushed to the scene around 7:42 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, in the northbound lane near exit 24 in Wethersfield to find the truck’s cab fully engulfed in flames. Quick-Thinking Fire Chief Uses Fork-Lift To Save Fairfield County Business From Fire A quick-thinking off-duty assistant fire chief saved a fire from happening in the loading dock of a Fairfield County business when a fire started in the engine of a pickup truck. The incident began around 7:46 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 27, when a 911 call was received by the Danbury Fire Department that a truck was on fire in the load dock area of Omaha Beef on Maple Avenue in Danbury, said James Gagliardo, communications director.
