A 43-year-old Western Massachusetts man was killed after he was struck by a train Thursday morning, Nov. 21, authorities said. The unnamed Deerfield man was hit around 8 a.m. on the tracks on South Main Street near Thayer Road, the Northwestern District Attorney's Office said. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. According to Amtrak, the Valley Flyer Train 471 was traveling from Greenfield to New Haven. The collision occurred in New Haven County at a railroad crossing on Sackett Point Road in North Haven at 5:50 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 9. Police have released the identity of a man who was hit and killed by an Amtrak train in Connecticut. Hartford County resident Amani Abele Ashley, age 23, of Bristol, was killed around 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 30 while walking along the train tracks near the intersection of Surrey Lane in Berlin. Scott James Harrington, age 59, of Riverside, a hamlet of Greenwich, was struck near the Cos Cob station by a New York-bound train around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, confirmed MTA officials.
