42 Cats Rescued From CT Home In 'Deplorable Condition' Dozens of cats were rescued from a home during an operation that involved several agencies after the home's resident let animal control officials inside. The incident took place in New Haven County around 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 15, on Hawkins Street in Derby, according to Derby Mayor Richard Dziekan. Forty-two cats were rescued from inside the home in what animal officials are calling a hoarding situation, the Mayor's Office said.
