'Deplorable Conditions': 103 Animals Rescued From CT Home, Owner Charged With Cruelty
A Connecticut home was described as a house of horrors for the more than 100 animals that were trapped inside and with limited access to food, water, and clean air, authorities said. The conditions were so bad that veterinarians had to euthanize four of the dogs that were rescued because they were so sick.
Windham County resident Tracy Donovan, age 59, of Woodstock, was arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 21, and charged with 103 counts of animal cruelty, Connecticut State Police said. According to court records, she was being held on a $150,000 bond.

A 17-year-old girl who died in a crash last month in Connecticut is being remembered for her kindness and generosity.
Megan Nicole Povilaitis, of East Haven, died in a single-vehicle crash in New Haven County on Hosley Avenue in Branford at about 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, police reported.
All three occupants of the vehicle died in the crash.
Megan was identified as the driver, and the two passengers were identified as 19-year-old Anthony Dudchik, of East Haddam, and 22-year-old Robert Dudchik, of East Haven.

A 59-year-old woman was arrested on animal cruelty charges after police said numerous animals in her care were found suffering from neglect and poor living conditions in Connecticut.
Joann Connelly, of Hebron in Tolland County, was arrested on Friday, March 25, and charged with three counts of cruelty to animals, according to Connecticut State Police.
