A sleeping child was thrown onto the pavement outside a Lancaster County Walmart, leading to a man's arrest, police announced on Wednesday, Aug. 12.
Justin Martin Wagner, 41, of Lancaster, was arrested following the incident at the Walmart at 890 East Main St. in Ephrata Township at 6:58 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11, according to the Ephrata Police Department.
Wagner had been causing a disturbance inside the store before witnesses saw him take a sleeping child from a shopping cart, lift the child into the air, and throw the child onto the pavement in the parking lot, police said.

20 Dogs Found In Feces-Filled Cages With No Food Or Water In New York: Police
An elderly person and 20 dogs were rescued from inhumane conditions at a home in New York, police said.
The dogs were living in feces- and urine-filled cages with insufficient ventilation, New York State Police said Thursday, Aug. 13. Additionally, the dogs did not have immediate access to food or water, authorities said.
Troopers responded to a complaint about the home in Argyle on Sunday, Aug. 9 around 1 p.m., according to state police. In addition to the dogs, they found an elderly person “in need of immediate assistance due to mobility issues.”

Fatally Stabbed New Haven Woman Names Ex-Boyfriend As Attacker, Police Say
A Connecticut man has been arrested after police say he fatally stabbed his ex-girlfriend inside her apartment.
Matthew Almontes, 39, was arrested and charged with murder and tampering with evidence in the Wednesday, Aug. 12, New Haven homicide, police said.
Tisha Marinoccio, 42, called New Haven police just after 3:30 p.m. to say Almontes had stabbed her before running out of her sixth-floor apartment with the knife, authorities said. Almontes also lived in the 358 Orange St. apartment building.
