A Connecticut man will spend decades in prison after he admitted to beating his 12-year-old son to death with a baseball bat and trying to kill his teenage daughter, authorities announced.
Anthony Andrew Esposito Jr., 53, of Branford, was sentenced on Monday, July 6, to 40 years behind bars for murder and another 20 years for attempted murder to be served consecutively, the Office of the State's Attorney said.
Judge Tracy Lee Dayton, who imposed the sentence, called the trial "one of the worst cases the court has seen."

The Canadian-born actor, comedian, and painter died of natural causes on Monday, June 22, at 92, his family told Deadline.

A 22-year-old man was killed and an 18-year-old woman was critically wounded in a shooting outside a Waterbury nightclub early Sunday, July 5, police said.
Officers responded to LA 42 Night Club, 673 E. Main St., at 12:04 a.m. for reports of shots fired, the Waterbury Police Department said. When officers arrived, they found a large gathering outside the club and evidence of gunfire at the scene.
