A Connecticut woman serving as president of a parent-teacher organization group allegedly drained approximately $12,000 from the group’s bank accounts, leaving them without enough money to hold school events, authorities alleged.
Tolland County resident Marissa Marks, age 41, of the town of Somers, was arrested on Tuesday, May 23 for allegedly misusing parent-teacher organization (PTO) funds, the Connecticut State Police reported.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is cautioning consumers to be aware of potential scams on Amazon Prime Day this year.
Each year, the online retail giant rolls out massive discounts on Prime Day, which is on Monday, June 21, and Tuesday, June 22, with other brick-and-mortar stores such as Walmart, Target, and Kohl’s joining in with sales across the board.
However, according to the BBB, “more deals mean more chances for scammers to capitalize on the buzz and trick shoppers. Be wary of phishing scams, misleading advertisements, and lookalike websites.”

Loss Prevention Officer Sexually Assaults Girl Being Detained At Kohl's, Norwalk Police Say
A Westchester resident sexually assaulted a girl who was being detained while he was working as a loss prevention officer at a Kohl's in Fairfield County, police said.
Edwin Espichan, 35, of White Plains was arrested without incident at Kohl's, located at 500 Connecticut Ave. in Norwalk, on Friday, July 12 and charged with sexual assault, two counts of reckless endangerment, two counts of unlawful restraint and two counts of disorderly conduct.
