What's On Your Mind, Wilton?

WILTON, Conn. – The joy of a newborn daughter, what to do for the weekend and the upcoming presidential election were some of the things on the minds of people in Wilton when we spoke with them on Thursday afternoon.

Krista Pietrafeso, 31, was beaming with joy as she went for a walk while pushing along her 2-month-old daughter, Ella.

“She’s been really good,” Pietrafeso said. “We’ve been getting some sleep. Not that much, but it’s not expected. We take what we can get.”

Meghan Wall, owner of Scoops Ice Cream, was talking with friend Kerry McMahon before going back to work.

“We’re thinking about what we’re going to do (on Friday),” Wall said, planning something for them and their children after practices.

“We haven’t decided yet,” McMahon said.

Megan Lane of Redding, who works in Wilton, was thinking about all of the commentary from the recent political conventions. She said she hopes people will be discerning about the information they’re hearing.

“We need more thinking and more asking of questions,” she said. “It’s important that people ask questions instead of listening to all of the rhetoric.”

Lane added that she’s also concerned about women’s rights and thinks some women take those rights for granted.

Bruno Gioffre of New Canaan, in town to have dinner with family at Portofino’s, said he wonders about what direction the country will take once Election Day passes. He also wants to hear more detailed plans from the candidates about what they are going to do to address issues in the country.

“I’d like to hear more specifics,” he said, adding that he hopes people will get informed and vote.

His wife Kathleen kept her thoughts simple. She was happy to be out with her family and counts her blessings every day.
