Truck Fire Causes Closure Of Busy Roadway In Westport A truck fire closed the Newtown Turnpike in Westport for more than an hour on Wednesday, May 29. Westport firefighters responded to the call for a fire in the back of a pickup truck around 5:48 a.m., the department said. Arriving companies, including two fire engines and the shift commander, found a pick-up truck in the roadway on fire.  Firefighters quickly stretched a fire hose line and doused the fire within minutes, the department said. There were no reported injuries. The fire is under investigation by the Westport Fire Marshal’s Office.

Westport Police: Woman Resisted Arrest In Hit & Run With Injuries WESTPORT, Conn. — A Westport woman was arrested Jan. 5 after she left the scene of an accident and then resisted arrest, police said. Victoria Lieber, 44, of Cranbury Road, was charged with evading responsibility, restricted turn and interfering with an officer, police said. Around 4:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Wilton Road and Newtown Turnpike on a report of a head-on motor vehicle collision with injuries.
