Kiddie Rock Band Coming to Town

Attention Westport parents: Get ready to rock, roll and dance the night away with your children to the music of Princess Katie & Racer Steve. The kid-friendly rockers will perform at the Levitt Pavilion Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Whether it's rock, funk, swing, dance, pop, country or reggae, all of the duo's songs are designed with kids in mind.

"We've created ... music that celebrates the cuteness of kids," the band says on its website.

In addition to fun and silliness, some songs offer lessons about real-life issues children deal with such as bullying, telling the truth, being respectful and sharing.

The New York City-based band had its beginnings in volunteer work. According to the website, Katie and Steve Borne volunteered at New York children's hospitals, where they dressed up as characters. Inspired to do more for the children, they created the characters Princess Katie and Racer Steve and started writing music for the children.
