Barlow Grads Travel Near and Far To Reunite

Phil Doremus of Easton had a close relationship with the first and second graduating classes at Joel Barlow High School. He was the photo editor of the first yearbook and the co-editor in chief of the second.

On Saturday, Doremus will join 50 years of Barlow graduates at a reunion from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fifty graduating classes will gather for the first time ever for "One Extravaganza Picnic," with proclamations from the first selectmen from Easton and Redding, a performance from the high school jazz band and music from 50 years of oldies.

Doremus graduated in 1962 and has not been back to Joel Barlow for at least a decade. "It will be different," he said. About 500 people are expected at the reunion, and Doremus heard that some are traveling from places such as Virginia and Montana. He knows of about five people from his class who are still living in Easton. Doremus said he is looking forward to see who shows up and to see whether any of his old teachers are still around.
