Westport Ranks Among Top Small Towns Across America

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- People living in small cities and towns like that they get more land, commute shorter distances and have closer ties in terms of network, according to a WalletHub.

In its "2016's Best Small Cities in America" report, WebHub analysts took a look at 1,268 cities whose with populations fall between 25,000 and 100,000, at 30 key "indicators of livability."

The factors included "housing costs," "school-system quality" and "number of restaurants per capita," the report said.

For its "Main Findings" list, WalletHub grouped the cities in percentiles, with a 99th percentile assigned to the top 1 percent of small cities in the United States.

The six categories in the rankings are Affordability, Economic Health, Education, Health, Quality of Life and Safety.

95 overall: Westport, 64.59, 358, 922, 28, 246, 31

93 overall: Shelton, 93, 275, 326,53, 605, 71

80 overall: Trumbull, 61.47, 198, 730, 48, 1059, 277

93 overall: Stratford, 60.15, 464, 1034, 78, 726, 320

68 overall: Norwalk, 59.48, 979, 568, 124, 431, 434

67 overall: Danbury, 59.34, 943, 505, 196, 675, 281

In a "Best City v. Worst City" ranking, Trumbull ranked 5 among the top 6 for "Lowest Percentage of Residents Living Below Poverty Level"
