Woman Struck, Killed In Busy Bridgeport Crosswalk
A woman died after being struck by a car in a busy Fairfield County crosswalk. She was walking in Bridgeport westbound on Washington Avenue around 8 a.m., Monday, Jan. 5, when she was hit by a vehicle traveling southbound on Coleman Street. The woman, identified as 79-year-old Marilyn Jones, was rushed to Bridgeport Hospital, where she died from her injuries, said Capt. Lonnie Blackwell of the Bridgeport Police. Accused Juvenile Thieves Caught After Boy Robbed Of $200 Saved To Buy Phone In Bridgeport
Two Bridgeport juveniles have been charged with robbery after allegedly stealing $200 from a boy attempting to buy an iPhone on Snapchat. The two juveniles were arrested in Bridgeport on Wednesday, March 22, for the incident which took place on Feb. 23, said Capt. Kevin Gilleran of the Bridgeport Police. The juvenile victim contacted the suspects via Snapchat regarding the posted sale of an Apple iPhone. Two overdose deaths in Bridgeport have led Police Chief Armando Perez to issue a warning to the community regarding a deadly batch of heroin circulating on the streets. Perez made the announcement on Monday, Feb. 11 following the two deaths in the Hollow section of the city over the past several days. Police are asking the public for help in finding the driver responsible for slamming into a pedestrian and then fleeing the scene in Bridgeport. The incident took place around 5:49 p.m. Friday on Washington Avenue, just west of the intersection with James Street, said Av Harris, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police. During the incident, a pedestrian was struck and seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver in a black four-door vehicle while crossing Washington Avenue, Harris said. Seven Hospitalized After Multi-Car Collision In Bridgeport
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Seven people were hospitalized over the weekend following a multi-vehicle crash involving a city bus, according to a ctpost.com report. First responders were dispatched to the intersection of Washington Avenue and Catherine Street in Bridgeport at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Friday, following reports of a crash involving the bus and two other cars.
