Train, Tractor-Trailer Involved In CT Collision An Amtrak passenger train and a tractor-trailer were involved in a crash in Connecticut. The collision occurred in New Haven County at a railroad crossing on Sackett Point Road in North Haven at 5:50 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 9.  North Haven Police said an investigation is underway, and commuters are asked to avoid the area and expect delays. Only minor injuries were reported, North Haven Police said. A train engineer was hospitalized. The crash took place in New Haven County around 8:30 p.m. near Exit 23 on I-84 in Waterbury. Person Struck By Tractor-Trailer In Fairfield County A pedestrian was hit by a tractor-trailer and seriously injured on I-84 in Fairfield County. Connecticut State Police said the incident took place around 3:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 25 near Exit 11 in Newtown. Responding troopers said the person was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The roadway was closed for several hours, backing up traffic for at least eight miles, before reopening later on Monday morning. The extent of injuries was not immediately provided.
