Driver Rescued After Car Crashes Into Rippowam River
A motorist in Fairfield County needed to be rescued after making a splash landing in the Rippowam River. First responders in downtown Stamford received a report on Monday, Sept. 14 of a single-car crash that led to a motorist finding himself submerged in the river’s water. Upon arrival, firefighters found the vehicle, which had struck a stone wall on Tresser Boulevard before losing control, skidding down the embankment and landing in the middle of the river. ID Released For Local Woman Found Dead In Rippowam River
A 67-year-old Stamford woman whose body was found floating in the river near the Trump building has been identified. Eru Zhang, 67, was found dead around 1 p.m. Sunday in the Rippowam River in Mill River Park, said Stamford Police Lt. Eric Scanlon. Zhang is believed to have entered the water near her home on Vernon Place, police said. "At this point, her death looks to be either suicide or accidental," he said. "We are still waiting for the Medical Examiner's report."

Car Burglar Ends Up Soaking Wet After Running From Police In Stamford
A man ended up soaking wet after running straight into the Rippowam River while trying to escape police custody for stealing from cars, Stamford Police said. The incident began around 2 a.m. Thursday when a Windsor Road woman reported to police that a man was breaking into a neighbor's car, said Sgt. Brian Butler.
