Fairfield County Man Found Dead Inside Mercedes Van Parked Behind Pennsylvania Hotel A 51-year-old Connecticut man was found dead inside of a van parked behind a hotel, authorities said. Police in Delaware County, Pennsylvania were called to the Best Western on Providence Avenue in Chester on Tuesday, April 20 where a member of the military found the body in a Mercedes van parked in a spot reserved for military personnel, Chester City Police Captain James Chubb said. The man was later identified as John Melia, of Stamford, Chubb said. No foul play was suspected, and Melia's body was recovered by the Delaware County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

The vehicle, 2019 Mercedes SL 450, was stolen from a home on Norman Lane sometime during the overnight hours on Tuesday, April 7, Darien Police Sgt. James Palmieri. Darien Police say they received a report that a 2018 Mercedes GLS450 had been stolen from the front of the owner’s residence on Country Club Road between 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 16 and 7:30 a.m. on Friday, May 17. The complainant allegedly told police that a set of keys had been left in the vehicle. Police say the vehicle was recovered overnight by the State Police on the Merritt Parkway Southbound near exit 28 after it had run out of gas.
