The incident took place in Westport around 7:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 1, at Staples High School. According to Lt. Eric Woods, of the Westport Police, the Jeep accidentally plowed into the Culinary Arts department classroom during the prime drop-off time. The Westport Fire Department Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call shortly after 6:30 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 7, by a resident reporting a structure fire, said Assistant Chief Jeffrey Gootman. Cause Of Westport House Fire Under Investigation Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a fire found in a wall of a home in the area. The call for the fire in the Fairfield County home came in around 8:32 p.m., Tuesday, June 2, on Turkey Hill Lane in Westport, said Assistant Fire Chief Jeffrey Gootman. Westport firefighters responded with four engines, a ladder truck, Gootman said. "Arriving units found smoke in the basement and the first floor," he said.
