Plane Diverted To Bradley Airport After In-Flight Issue, Officials Say
A plane had to make an emergency landing at Bradley International Airport, an official said. The incident took place just before 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11 at the airport located in Hartford County, in the Town of Windsor Locks. An iAero Airways aircraft was diverted to Bradley after reporting an issue in flight. said Ryan Tenny, a spokesman for the Connecticut Airport Authority. "The flight landed safely at approximately 9:25 a.m. and there is no impact to airport operations," Tenny said. Airplane Crashes Into Occupied Groton Home
An airplane crashed into a Groton home the evening of Monday, Aug. 17 - slamming through the occupied dwelling’s roof. No fatalities or life-threatening injuries were reported with the flight crew or residents, police said. At around 10:38 p.m. Groton Emergency Communications Center received multiple reports of a plane crash on Ring Drive at Donna Drive. The small aircraft was carrying two people. Study To Explore Name Change For Bradley Airport Takes Flight
Connecticut’s largest airport may soon go by a new name. This week, the Connecticut Airport Authority board of directors voted unanimously to launch a study about how a potential name change at Bradley International Airport could help bolster flights coming in and out of the Nutmeg State. The report is expected to be completed and released by the end of the year. The airport is currently named after former military man Eugene Bradley, who died in a dogfighting training exercise in 1941 in advance of World War II.
