Officer Involved In Shooting Injuring Suspect In Fairfield County, State Police State

A police officer assigned to a federal task force was involved in a shooting overnight in Fairfield County that left one person wounded, authorities said.

The shooting occurred around 10:12 p.m., Tuesday, June 15, when a Bridgeport police officer assigned to the federal Safe Streets task force was involved in a shooting in the area of Main and Catherine streets, said the Connecticut State Police.

The victim was transported to the hospital, treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and released, state police said.

Additional details regarding the shooting were not released, but a silver vehicle remained behind police tape on Wednesday, June 16 at the intersection.

The Connecticut State Police Eastern District Major Crimes Squad has assumed this investigation at the request of the Bridgeport State’s Attorney’s Office.
