MONROE, Conn. -- A Bridgeport woman was arrested Monday for the brazen burglary in which she and an accomplice used a U-Haul rental van at an elderly Monroe woman's home on Oct. 6, according to police.

Natasha Pennywell, 35, was charged with third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief and fourth-degree larceny. Monroe Police laid the charges when the woman appeared in Bridgeport court Monday. She remains jailed on unrelated charges.

Ernest Bailey was arrested last month on the same charges.

Police said the Monroe resident arrived home to find a U-Haul rental van parked in her driveway. Upon entering the home, the elderly victim discovered that someone had broken into her home and stolen electronics and jewelry.

As the victim called police, she looked out her front window and discovered that the U-Haul van was no longer in her driveway.

Police discovered in their investigation that other towns in the area including Norwalk, Fairfield and Westport had been hit with similar residential burglaries.

Police from Monroe and the other towns zeroed in on Pennywell and Bailey as suspects in multiple burglaries. Bailey was arrested by the Monroe Police Department last month in connection with the Oct. 6 burglary.
