EASTON, Conn. -- Residents of a Rock House Road home in Easton discovered that someone had broken into their house while they were out to dinner on Thursday.
The resident called police Thursday and said that she had left the home with her children at around 5:30 p.m. to have an impromptu dinner at a friend's home. She said that normally she and her children are home during these hours, as a matter of routine.
When she arrived back home at around 9:45 p.m., she noticed a bottle of liquor in an odd spot as she walked in. She began looking through the rest of the residence and noticed that items were missing. She then grabbed her children and went outside to call the police.
Police said that it is suspect that whoever entered the home did so through an unlocked garage door. The incident is currently under investigation.
