A West Haven man was charged with sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl after she told a family member about the assault.
William Gordon, 38, was charged with first-degree sexual assault after being arrested Monday at Milford Superior Court where he was appearing on an unrelated matter, said Lt. Keith Golding.
Golding said on Feb. 18, Gordon, who is known to the family, was giving a ride home to the girl after she had been visiting his home.
But instead of driving the teen home, Golding said he took her to a secluded area in Trumbull where he parked and sexually assaulted her.
The girl told a family member about the assault after she saw Gordon talking to her 12-year-old sister and did not want the same thing to happen to her, police said.
Gordon is being held on $150,000 bond.
