A Stamford resident of 64 years, Iovanna was a New York native, who graduated from James Monroe High School with a perfect score on the math regents exam. An East Hartford native, Plucker graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1945 and joined the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1946.  He started his work career in the heavy construction equipment field working for T.B.
