New Canaan Police Say Waiters Stole $1,500 On Christmas Day At Restaurant NEW CANAAN, Conn., -- Two men stole about $1,500 on Christmas Day while they worked as waiters at a New Canaan restaurant, police said. Mario Montes, 45, of 10 Riverside Ave., and Eduardo Navarro, 50, 12 Girard St., Apt. 1., are each charged with fourth-degree larceny and conspiracy. Police said the theft at Roger Sherman Inn occurred on Christmas Day and they were called to investigate on Dec. 29 after the approximately $1,500 was discovered missing. Police: Stamford Man Set Stolen Car On Fire, Is Suspect In Violent Crimes STAMFORD, Conn. — A video from a Stamford gas station shows a suspect in numerous violent incidents across Fairfield County putting a gas nozzle into the back seat of a stolen car shortly before it was found on fire, Stamford Police said in announcing his arrest. Tyriek Gantt, 19, of 143 Connecticut Ave., is facing charges of arson, second-degree conspiracy to commit arson and second-degree larceny. He was held on $200,000 bond. Port Chester Man Charged By Stamford Police After Van Lands On Sidewalk STAMFORD, Conn. — A New York state man and his four passengers are facing a variety of charges after his van jumped a curb and and landed on a sidewalk in a crash Sunday night in Stamford, police said. Luis Cuji-Cando, 25, of 519 Ellendale Ave., Port Chester, had a blood alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence, driving without a license and failure to drive in a proper lane. Norwalk Cops: Robbery Report Being Investigated As Family Violence NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk Police are investigating a robbery report early Tuesday that police said was not a random event and is being investigated as a family violence incident. Police are releasing little information on the incident that occurred at 1:30 a.m. in the area of Cedar Street and Fairfield Avenue. Police said it's an isolated event.

Truck Gets Wedged Under Railroad Overpass In Greenwich GREENWICH, Conn. — Debris was being cleaned up Tuesday morning after a tractor-trailer truck ran into the Steamboat Road railroad overpass in Greenwich on Tuesday morning. The truck was removed from the scene at about 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, and the road was reopened, police said. It was unknown whether there were any injuries in the accident. Motorists had been urged to avoid the area while crews removed the truck after the accident. The road had been closed for several hours early Tuesday morning, police said.

Stamford Police Say Ringleader In $500,000 Elder Scam Arrested Monday STAMFORD, Conn., -- A man believed to be the ringleader in which an 83-year-old Stamford man was scammed out of about $450,000 in cash turned himself into police Monday morning. Dew Darius McCauley, 44, of 11237 Fountain Grove Dr, Charlotte, NC, is charged with first-degree larceny, second-degree money laundering and first-degree conspiracy at larceny. His bond was set at $500,000. Stamford Police said he is also wanted by Connecticut State Police on a first-degree larceny charge. There was no information available on that charge. Norwalk Break-Ins May Be Linked, Police Say NORWALK, Conn., -- Norwalk Police are urging residents to take precautions after three burglaries into unoccupied homes during January. Norwalk Detectives investigated three residential burglaries into unoccupied residences on Mohawk Drive and Lakewood Drive. In all three instances, a rear sliding glass door was smashed using a rock or a brick. These burglaries have occurred between 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and cash and jewelry were taken. Greenwich Woman Charged With Driving Under the Influence GREENWICH, Conn., -- A Greenwich woman was charged with a drunk driving offence after she allegedly collided into a culvert just before 6:30 p.m., Greenwich Police said. The accident occurred at 235 Cognewaugh Road, police said. Charged with driving under the influence is Jo Ann Ford, 61, of 15 E. Putnam Ave., Apt. 3010. Westport Police: Norwalk Man Goes Through Red Light, Hits Parked Vehicle WESTPORT, Conn. -- A Norwalk man drove through a red light and then hit a parked vehicle all in front of a Westport Police officer at midnight on Sunday, police said. Westport Police: Norwalk Woman Facing New Charges For Theft From Vehicles WESTPORT, Conn. -- A woman already facing charges for allegedly stealing items from vehicles parked at Saugatuck Elementary School is facing new charges in connection with a theft from a vehicle in a neighboring parking lot.
