Josh Mensah, an eighth-grader, was Scofield’s top runner in 44th place. He finished the race in 14:06. The other Scofield runners were Chris Cordone and Alex Chuckas.

More than 1,000 girls and boys from middle schools throughout the state competed in the races.

Mensah won the Stamford Middle School championship in October at Cove Island Park, leading the team to the boys team championship. Scofield also won the girls team championship.

Due to Hurricane Sandy, Scofield was unable to field a full team for the state championship meet. Scofield is coached by Al Forsyth, the Stamford High School boys outdoor track coach and a teacher at Scofield. Allison Allen and James Neufeld also coach the team.
