Stamford Woman Charged With Assault On Girlfriend

STAMFORD, Conn. — A Stamford woman turned herself in to police Monday after a domestic incident between her and her partner earlier this month, Sgt. Sean McGowan said.

According to McGowan, the victim reported that the woman she was living with, Khnemet Serrano, 33, of Stamford, had gotten in to an argument and the suspect refused to let her leave. When the victim tried to leave, Serrano choked her, police said. After the victim pushed her off, she punched the victim in the eye and threw a potted plant at her, the sergeant said.

The victim reported the incident May 8 and said it took place May 7, police said. She had a black eye at the time, McGowan said. The two had a relationship 12 years ago, and the victim moved to Stamford from Georgia to live with Serrano, the sergeant said.

The suspect was charged with third-degree assault, disorderly conduct and second-degree unlawful restraint, police said. Serrano was held on $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
