Matthew Delfino Jr., 81, Stamford Graphic Designer

STAMFORD, Conn. – Matthew John Delfino Jr. of Stamford died Sept. 9 at Norwalk Hospital. He was 81. 

Born July 15, 1931 in Stamford, he was the son of Matthew J. Delfino Sr. and Hanna Parker Delfino. He was married to Clyda Rae Delfino for 54 years. 

After graduating high school, Delfino enlisted in the Marine Corps, serving as a radio operator and combat veteran in Korea from 1949 to 1952. He attended the Art Center College of Design in California and graduated in 1959 with honors. 

Delfino worked as an artist, graphic designer and illustrator for art studios in New York, Detroit and Toronto. He lived in West Norwalk for 26 years and started his own studio, Matt Delfino Art Expressions & Graphics, in Stamford.  

The company provided advertising, design and illustration to Fortune 500 companies in New York and Connecticut. He retired in 1992 to Stamford enjoying painting, photography and traveling to his home in California.  

He is survived by his wife, Clyda; two sons, Nicholas (Linda Cappello) Delfino and Christopher (Robin Nagot) Delfino, both of Norwalk; three brothers, Frank (Florence) Delfino and John (Carol) Delfino, of Monroe, and Joseph (Ann) Delfino, of Trumbull; two sisters, Delores (Frank) Mazzola and Grace (Lou) D'Amico, of Ft. Meyers, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22 at St. Paul's on the Green in Norwalk. Burial with military honors will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Norwalk. Magner Funeral Home in Norwalk is handling arrangements.
