The incident occurred in Hartford around 11 p.m., Monday, June 3, in the area of 36 New Britain Ave.

According to Lt. Aaron Boisvert of the Hartford Police, officers responded to the area after the department received numerous 911 calls reporting a toddler struck by a vehicle.

Officers located the child unresponsive in the roadway, Boisvert said. The toddler was rushed to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

"It was determined that the toddler wandered out of the open door of the laundromat, located at 36 New Britain Avenue, and into the roadway," Boisvert said.

The vehicle was determined to be a 2013 black BMW 328xi, with Connecticut registration BD98328.

The Hartford Police Crime Scene Division responded and assumed the investigation.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with any information regarding the case is asked to call the HPD Tip Line at 860-722-TIPS (8477).
