Edward W. Binshadler, 95, Of Stamford, Partner, Ernst & Young

STAMFORD, Conn. - Edward W. Binshadler of Stamford, formerly of Riverside, died Monday, Jan. 13. He was 95.

Binshadler was born Dec. 1, 1918, in Granite City, Illinois. He graduated from Westminster College in 1940 with a B.A. and earned his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Army in the European Campaign during World War II, participating in the D-Day landings as a platoon leader and first lieutenant. His career was always in finance – four years as a security analyst with a Wall Street investment counsel; seven years on the finance staff at Ford Motor Co in Detroit; and 23 years in the Consulting Group of Arthur Young & Co (now Ernst & Young), with his last 17 years as partner in the firm. After mandatory retirement from Arthur Young he worked for 14 years as a trustee of a large family of Mutual Funds. He lived in Riverside for many years with his wife and son and served as a longtime member of its Race Committee. Binshadler is survived by his son, Jeff; two grandchildren; and a great granddaughter, all of Vermont. He was predeceased by his parents; and wife, Priscilla Barr Binshadler.

There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18 at Edgehill, 122 Palmers Hill Road, Stamford. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Binshadler’s memory to Westminster College, 501 Westminster Ave., Fulton, MO 65251.
