William Ginyard, In Theater Management

Funeral services were held Nov. 5 for William "Pop" Ginyard Jr., who died Oct. 30 at age 93. He was the first African American in Stamford to hold a management position with the Weiss Amusement Corporation, which operated local movie theaters.

He was born July 15, 1917, in Orangeburg, S.C. Ginyard was a loyal member of Wilson Memorial Church of God in Christ. He founded the Angelic Church of God in Christ in 1968, and was its pastor until 1976.

He is survived by wife Hattie, to whom he was married for 22 years; four sons Barry, Kevin, Gilbert and Michael; daughters Bonnie, Connie, Carolyn and Michelle; and 28 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by four children.
