Two Debates on Tap for Stamford Candidates

STAMFORD, Conn. – Do you know who the Stamford candidates are in the Nov. 8 election? Do you know what they stand for? The League of Women Voters will hold two debates later this month that should help. 

Board of Education candidates will be at the Harry Bennett Branch of the Ferguson Library on Monday, Oct. 17, for a face-off scheduled for 7 p.m. Board of Finance candidates debate a week later, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. at the Main Branch of the Ferguson Library.

Each candidates meeting will use the Time Debate Response format, the release said. Residents can submit questions to moderator Jara Burnett of Greenwich’s League of Women Voters.

Candidates for the three Board of Education seats are incumbents Jackie Heftman (D) and Julia Wade (D), and Gary Klein (D), June Corridor (R), Mike Bayonne Jr. (R) and Karen Murphy (I).

On the finance board side, incumbent candidates are Scott Mirkin (R), Bob Kolenberg (R) and Mary Lou Rinaldi (D), and Joseph Tarzia (R), John Louizos (D), David Martin (D) and Cynthia Reeder (I).
