Rosina Raiteri, Stamford Native

STAMFORD, Conn. — Rosina Marie (Montalto) Raiteri of Stamford died Jan. 19 at Greenwich Hospital. She was born in Stamford.

Raiteri moved moved to Bridgeport as a teenager to finish high school and to go to college. After marrying her husband, Cal, she returned to Stamford, where she became involved in several civic organizations, including the League of Women Voters, the Patriotic and Special Events Committee and the Democratic Women’s Club, where she served as president.

Raiteri and her husband also enjoyed going to sporting events, concerts and theater productions in New York. They also hosted Christmas parties every year during which guests would sing “The 12 Days of Christmas” and she would assign each guest a different day to sing.

Raiteri is survived by her husband, Cal; her daughter, Janemarie Raiteri; and her sister, Marie Cahill. She was predeceased by her brother, Peter Montalto.

A Mass was celebrated Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church in Stamford. Arrangements were handled by Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Sacred Heart Church or to the Boys’ Town of Italy Inc.
