Roger A. Petrone Sr., Retired Stamford Cop

Roger A. Petrone Sr., a retired Stamford police officer, died at the age of 67 on May 2 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He was born Sept. 13, 1943 in Stamford.

After graduating from Stamford High School in 1961, Petrone attended Iona College. He also served in the U.S. Navy and went on to have a 37-year career in the Stamford Police Department, reaching the rank of sergeant.

He enjoyed vacationing in Aruba and had a fondness for motorcycles. Before he retired, Petrone took a motorcycle trip from Connecticut to Alaska.

Petrone was a longtime Master Mason, served as Past Master of Union Lodge #5 and was a member of Vanhoe Lodge 107.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Meyer Petrone; his sons Roger A. Petrone Jr. and Robert A. Petrone; his brother; Donald Petrone; and three grandchildren and two stepchildren.

There will be a memorial service from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford. Donations in Petrone’s memory can be made to the ALS Therapy Development Institute.
