STAMFORD, Conn. Stamford police charged Anthony Fiordelisi, 60, of Stamford, with murder in connection with his mother's death Tuesday night, Lt. Diedrich Hohn said.
Police found Fiordelisi at his 155 Sylvan Knoll Road home with several self-inflicted wounds to his wrist and his mother, Marion Fiordelisi, dead in her bedroom, Hohn said. She had severe cuts to her wrists as well, he said.
Fiordelisi told police he was tired of taking care of his mother and wanted to end his life, but he did not want his mother to find his body, Hohn said.
Fiordelisi told police he took a lot of prescription drugs and gave them to his mother as well, hoping the drugs would kill both of them, Hohn said.
When he woke up, he slashed his mother's wrists, Hohn said.
Police believe he then called 911. He was taken to Stamford Hospital for treatment but is expected to appear in court Wednesday.
