Man Charged in 2009 Theft of Camera in Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. — Police arrested a suspect Monday in the 2009 theft of an $8,000 camera from Camera Wholesalers in Stamford, police said.

The suspect was being shown the camera on Dec. 1, 2009, when he allegedly fled the store with the item, Sgt. William Hnatuk said. In February, after the suspect was arrested in Greenwich in a similar crime, Hnatuk said, his prints were put into a federal identification system, he said.

After finding the match, Stamford Police got a warrant and arrested Amsumana Jamaal Bility, 24, of Brooklyn, Hnatuk said. He was charged with third-degree larceny and was extradited from New York, police said.
