Father Arrested after Tirade

Smoke was the prelude to fire early Thursday on Southfield Avenue in Stamford. Police saw a woman who appeared to be upset walking on the street at 3:30 a.m. They stopped to check and the woman said she was on the street, smoking a cigarette, because her father didn't want her smoking in the home. She said she was afraid to return home, according to police. Officers took the woman back to the house to talk with the father. As they approached, the dad was in the process of throwing his daughter's personal property on the street. Officers tried to speak with him, but he was "totally combative," according to police. The father was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and with interfering with officers/resisting. He appeared in court later that day.
