Santa Brings Joy to Special Stamford Residents

Santa came early to Stamford on Friday, bringing gifts and putting smiles on the faces of the developmentally disabled clients at Always Reaching for Independence of Connecticut Center.

“They look forward to this day with great anticipation every year,” Mathew Reyher, president and CEO, said of the clients of the Richmond Hill Avenue center.

This is the 55th year the Stamford Police  Association has partnered with ARI

to host the Christmas lunch.

And for the fifth year in a row, Stamford-based Thomson Reuters provided the lunch and the volunteers to serve the happy guests, who each received a personal gift from Santa.

Retired Stamford Police officer Dave DeLeo played Santa and was ably assisted in giving the gifts by Officer John Buehler.

Since its inception in 1955, ARI has developed services to meet the needs of people with disabilities. These services include programs for students transitioning from high school, residential alternatives and job placement.
