The 26-feet-tall Marilyn, depicting her most famous pose from "The Seven Year Itch," has been turning more than a few heads as part of the city's Downtown’s Art in Public Places” series presented by Stamford Downtown Special Services District.
Sponsored by the Avon Theatre Film Center, the larger-than-life Marilyn is just one of 36 sculptures that will be on display through the summer.
All 36 sculptures are from Seward Johnson’s Celebrating the Familiar series and might catch you off guard when visiting the downtown area.
Now in its 25th year, the art series has featured everything from shapes to animals and even dinosaurs. But a lot of locals are saying that the "Marilyn" is the best by far.
Some of the sculptures are so realistic they are startling residents, especially the "Man Crossing the Street," and the "Man Reading the Paper With His Dog."
But by far, the 30,000-pound Marilyn is drawing the most attention.
