A Connecticut community is in mourning after a young father of an 11-month-old boy, who had a daughter on the way, was killed in a motorcycle crash over the weekend.
Jordan Thomas Jr. was killed shortly before 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 30, after he was involved in a crash with a vehicle on the Silas Deane Highway in Rocky Hill, near the Exit 24 ramps for Interstate 91, police said. He died at the scene.

A Connecticut mother remains hospitalized after a vehicle struck her as she helped teenagers escape a crash on I-95, and a fundraiser aims to pay back some of her heroism.
Ashley Taunton, 42, of Ledyard, was traveling south on I-95 through Hopkinton, Rhode Island, with her youngest daughter last month when she spotted a wreck. Rain was pouring down, but Taunton, a mother of three who formerly worked as a certified nursing assistant, would not leave someone stranded.
“When I see there’s somebody in trouble, I tend to want to go help,” Taunton told People magazine on Sunday, Aug. 23.

WalletHub released its 2026 list of the Most Fun States in America on Tuesday, Aug. 18. CT Rises In New Ranking Of Best States To Live In US
From strong schools and health care to high incomes and low crime, several Northeast states are among the best places to live, according to a new study.
WalletHub released its 2026 Best States to Live In list on Monday, Aug. 10. The study ranked all 50 states using 51 measures of livability, from housing affordability and income growth to education, health, quality of life, and safety.

Wilton Family Carnival Returns With Rides, Games, Food Trucks
Wilton’s Family Carnival will return for three days in September, bringing rides, games, food and family activities to the intersection of School Road and Danbury Road/Route 7.
The Rotary Club of Wilton says the carnival will run from Friday, Sept. 18, through Sunday, Sept. 20.
Hours are 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, 3 to 10 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
More than a dozen rides suitable for a range of ages are planned, along with games and other activities throughout the weekend.
Food trucks and other vendors will also be available.

Any way you slice it, Boston will become the upper crust of New England’s pizza scene for one weekend next month.
The Boston Pizza Festival returns to City Hall Plaza on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026, and Sunday, Sept. 20. Organizers expect more than 30 pizzerias to serve slices to over 20,000 guests.
The lineup includes Sally’s Apizza from New Haven. Rossopomodoro at Eataly will also take part. Pizza Taxi from Vico Equense, Italy, will make the trip to Boston.
