Stormy skies sweeping into the region over the next few days will likely bring heavy rainfall and some wind to Fairfield County, the National Weather Service says.
Thunderstorms may begin shaking afternoon skies Wednesday and may continue Thursday and Friday. The storms could cause flooding in urban areas and other places with poor drainage, the Weather Service warns.
There is a 60 percent chance of rain the rest of Wednesday and that increases to 80 percent Wednesday night, when a half-an-inch of rain could soak the region. Thursday brings an 60 percent chance of rain, though thunderstorms are more likely in the afternoon.
Rain may continue through the end of the week, though the chance of storms drops Thursday night and Friday.
